How to Walk with Holy Spirit!
This week is the final lesson on the PERSON of Holy Spirit. Teaching about Holy Spirit is a challenge since Holy Spirit as a PERSON is foreign to the Church.
The Church has a general idea of Holy Spirit and also believes that He is God. In the traditional churches, the baptism of the Spirit with speaking in tongues, and the gifts of the Spirit is a truth that is totally rejected by the Church.
GOLD & GLORY FLASHPOINT 1:
- When I was a child, we were always warned about the “tongue talkers.” Speaking in tongues was considered to be of the devil. God gave the early Church the ability to speak in tongues because it was needed in those early days of the Church. However, after the churches were established, the gift of tongues ceased to operate. What a LIE from the pit of hell!
- Among Pentecostals, the belief of speaking in tongues and operating in the gifts is true, accepted, and embraced. Even today, I am not aware of any Church denomination that focuses on Holy Spirit as a PERSON. Generally speaking, the hardest thing to do is to make changes in your life. The Church has a 2,000-year history of ignoring or rejecting Holy Spirit in PERSON. Wow, what a challenge to change the past!
- During the Revival days of the ‘90s and later, I have preached in so many churches. Once I began to teach about the Person of Holy Spirit, Christians would have that blank look on their faces. So, I would teach on John 14-17, and I had everybody follow along with me in their bibles. Most of them were shocked, and unfortunately, I was the first minister to ever teach on Holy Spirit RELATIONSHIP to all those thousands of Christians in the Joy Revival.
- As we have said before, when we were children, the Christian doctrines of our denomination were given to us—the same doctrines, many times over. However, during the Revival meetings, the people had such difficulty with Holy Spirit being a true PERSON and that Holy Spirit is OMNIPRESENT. At that point, we had to start over, bringing Holy Spirit into our Christian faith. The lies and deceptions of “Church Christianity” have robbed the Church from ever seeking to tangibly experience Holy Spirit!
- Even today, teaching on Holy Spirit’s Person is still the most difficult message of Christianity to bring to the Church! It is an unbelievably hard thing to convince Christians that Holy Spirit is a REAL PERSON and that He PERSONALLY lives within the spirit man of every believer. Regardless, the strongholds of error always seem to prevail! The very moment that you say to the Church, “Jesus is in heaven and not on Earth,” you kick down a hornets nest!! This fact is the root of the stronghold of error about Jesus and about Holy Spirit.
- The Apostle Paul spoke very strongly about Holy Spirit being a PERSON and that our Christian life should be shared with the PERSON of Holy Spirit. Paul admonishes the Church to practice a Christian lifestyle of WALKING WITH THE SPIRIT (Galatians 5:16). As we have said before, Jesus is our salvation, but presently, He is in heaven. Holy Spirit is our Comforter because He has taken Jesus’ place on the earth after Jesus ascended into heaven. For more than 40 years, I have taught on the Personhood of Holy Spirit. In our arsenal of Spirit-led books, we included detailed teachings about Holy Spirit as a Person and “how to” develop a daily walk with Holy Spirit.
- The lifestyle of walking daily with the Spirit is contrary to the nature of man. Firstly, we are impatient. We want everything right now! Secondly, we are inconsistent in what we do. That means that any venture we start in life usually doesn’t last long. And so we drop the ball. Thirdly, Christians think it is weird to talk to someone you cannot see. That’s ridiculous! Then, I would ask Christians over and over, “Don’t you realize that prayer is talking to a person you cannot see?” All Christians pray all the time. So, is that not talking to somebody you cannot see? Of course! Furthermore, we have to learn to talk to the Lord PERSONALLY and address Holy Spirit in PERSON, which is truly difficult since we were never introduced to Holy Spirit in PERSON during all the years that we have been in the Church!

GOLD & GLORY FLASHPOINT 2:
- Walking with Holy Spirit is actually so easy! It can sometimes almost feel like it’s natural. The greatest thing to know about walking with Holy Spirit is that you have to ask Holy Spirit continually to increase YOUR hunger for this personal relationship. Everything we do in life is done with motivation. Walking with Holy Spirit also requires strong motivation. So, here are the two things that we absolutely need to possess in order to have a relationship with Holy Spirit.
-
-
- HUNGER: Here is one of the strongest motivations in life—hunger. Since we understand natural hunger, it’s easy to remind ourselves that spiritual hunger is THE great motivation for a Spirit-filled life. Obviously, spiritual hunger does not develop over time. Spiritual hunger has to be pursued by ASKING Holy Spirit to increase our spiritual hunger every day. True to reality, the lack of hunger seems to be a real obstacle in our way. However, spiritual hunger ALWAYS opens the door to the Presence and Person of Holy Spirit.
- TALKING: Relationship with Holy Spirit happens when we personally ask Holy Spirit for a personal relationship of friendship with us. Then faith becomes part of us in taking action. What action? TALKING! Just simply start talking to Holy Spirit as a Person, and address Him Personally. This is friendship, so this personal relationship with Holy Spirit is not prayer; it’s FELLOWSHIP! Prayer is to ask something of the Lord. Fellowship is to personally share your life with Holy Spirit. Think about somebody who may be your closest friend. As people, we always feel the need to sit down with a good friend and share our heart with them. When this person happens to be your best friend, you’re always talking to this person, even on a daily basis. Over time, as the relationship grows stronger, you progressively feel a great comfort in your heart when you talk to your best friend. This is how we should talk to Holy Spirit—as our best friend!
-
- Jesus told His disciples that He would return to the Father in heaven and that He would send Holy Spirit to take Jesus’ place in their lives. I love the Amplified version of 1 Corinthians 14:26. Jesus told the disciples that Holy Spirit would come in His NAME, in His PLACE, to REPRESENT Him and ACT on His BEHALF. This is what we need! This verse is a whole teaching in itself. This new friend of Jesus’ disciples would be Holy Spirit when He would come to take Jesus’ place among them.
- Holy Spirit relationship is the complete opposite of Jesus being with us every day, which, of course, He is not. It is very important for any Christian who wants to develop a relationship with Holy Spirit to remind ourselves every day that Jesus is in HEAVEN and Holy Spirit is OMNIPRESENT. Besides, He also Personally lives within the spirit of every believer.
- Here’s what you need to do every day: Simply remind yourself that Holy Spirit lives in your spirit. Then, thank Him for being your friend and Comforter. Then, open your heart and just pour it all into Holy Spirit. Remember, He is really your best friend. As you get to know Him better through the relationship, you will eventually reach the place where you can ABSOLUTELY SHARE EVERYTHING in your life with the SPIRIT OF THE LORD. This is the walk of the Spirit! It is also the walk of faith.
- Holy Spirit will respond to you, but in His own time. We do not control or motivate Holy Spirit as to what He is going to say to us. We have to learn through time to TRUST Him in this relationship. Holy Spirit will respond to us when He wants to, not when we want to. That’s the faith walk with Holy Spirit. Pour your heart into Him every day and thank Him by faith that He hears you and that He will respond to you later.
- Over the years, Christians who heard me teach on the Person of Holy Spirit would contact me, or sometimes in the meetings, their problem with Holy Spirit is always the same thing. They would ask me this: “Why does Holy Spirit not talk to me when I need Him?” Again, we have to stand in faith for His response, just like we stand in faith on every scripture. God has his own schedule and timing. Even when we pray, the Lord may not answer us right away. We know that we need to wait in faith for the manifestation of the prayer. It is the same principle of faith in our Holy Spirit relationship.
- Christians usually operate in faith when they ask the Lord for things in a prayer. You pray, you believe, and you receive the answer by faith. It is the same with Holy Spirit relationship. Get up every day by faith, continue to talk to Him, and pour your life into Holy Spirit. Even if you don’t hear from Him in a week or two or more, you should continue by faith to talk to Him EVERY DAY. Oh my God, see how simple this is!
- The secret is to be consistent every day, to walk in faith every day, to walk in God’s Word every day, and to TALK to Holy Spirit every day! Your Holy Spirit relationship is the most important part of your Christian walk. We walk by faith and not by sight. We fellowship with Holy Spirit by faith and not by sight or by hearing from Him. That’s the secret. If Christians who seek a personal relationship with the Lord could read this e-Truths message, it would provide them with all they need to know about Holy Spirit, our Comforter and Friend.
Lord, I pray, in Jesus’ name, that the Church would discover YOU, Holy Spirit, and fall in love with YOU!
Then, the walk of the Spirit becomes joyful, exciting, and even glorious. This is what Jesus desires for every one of His children on Earth. It is the comfort and fellowship with His Holy Spirit!
