The Rain of God’s Spirit!

One of the most fascinating things about the Christian life is the RAIN of GOD’S SPIRIT!

Oftentimes we look back at the beginning of the Church in Jerusalem. A very strange phenomenon took place on the day of Pentecost in Jerusalem.

The Spirit of God fell upon the 120 who had gathered in the Upper Room to wait for the outpouring of God’s Spirit upon them.

GOLD & GLORY FLASHPOINT 1:

• There are numerous promises regarding the outpouring of the Spirit. Oftentimes we may not realize it, but almost every prophet of the Old Testament promised the outpouring of God’s Spirit like RAIN sometime in the future. While standing on the Mount of Olives one last time, the Lord commanded the disciples to return to Jerusalem promptly AND wait for the outpouring of His Spirit.
• At the time of the Lord’s ascension, Pentecost was only 10 days away. The Feast of the Summer Harvest, also known as Pentecost, is actually what we may call a “package deal.” It includes the abundance of the outpouring of summer rain and the maturing of the crops in the field. On the day of the first outpouring of God’s Spirit, the Pentecost celebration of the rain and harvest became a spiritual reality. Holy Spirit was poured from the sky just like natural rain! But this was something brand new—a new kind of rain, a spiritual rain. 
• We imagine something that is symbolic or not tangible oftentimes when we use the word spiritual. This all changed with the rain of God’s Spirit. Cloven tongues of fire were seen upon every one of the 120 followers of Jesus, and they were ALL filled with God’s Holy Spirit. So the outpouring of the Spirit comes from above, just like natural rain. But it is intended for humans and not the soil of the land. Furthermore, the abundance of rain falling upon people causes them to be also FILLED FROM THE INSIDE OUT with the very tangible RAIN of God’s Spirit.
• The promise of rain was also extended to the outpouring of new wine. The reality of the new wine of God did not end the night Jesus gave them the cup of the New Covenant. Oh no! The disciples were filled with the NEW wine of God’s Spirit beginning on the day of Pentecost. This resulted in the people literally pouring out of the building onto the streets seemingly in some drunken stupor, obviously laughing and shaking and speaking in strange languages. They were ALL filled with God’s Holy Spirit, and the wine kept flowing out of them in beautiful tongues of various different languages in praise and worship of God!
• During the time of Pentecost in those days, Jerusalem was filled with many visitors, merchandisers, and all of Israel bringing their tenth of the harvest to the Temple. The city was thronging with people of all different nationalities as a SIGN to all these foreigners that heard the disciples praising and worshipping God, everyone in his own language. The outpouring of the Spirit was the MOST spectacular thing EVER to happen in the city of Jerusalem!! But this was something entirely different. Pentecost was turned into a festival, a festival of great joy and much intoxication of the Spirit among the people.

• The rain of God’s Spirit is something the devil and religious spirits have mercilessly opposed since the outpouring in Jerusalem. The outpouring of the rain was further promised in two different seasons: the former and latter seasons of rain. History confirms to us that in the year 1900 the same outpouring of the rain of God’s Spirit began to happen again. Many books have been written about the rain of God during this latter season, from 1900 until the present. The rain of God has caused great miracles, signs, and wonders across the United States and the rest of the world!
• In recent times there has been a great drought globally in the Church. Although we recall with great joy the wonderful outpourings of God’s Spirit in the 1900’s and 2000s, we have arrived at a place of great need today. The greatest need in the Church and also for the rest of the world is for us to experience a NEW outpouring of God’s Spirit.
• In our last Sunday broadcast, we followed the leading of the Lord to start talking about and praying for a fresh outpouring of God’s Spirit. I wonder how many of God’s people today do remember the last great outpouring of God’s Spirit. Surely there have been many scattered showers of rain since the 1900s but we are in great need today of a FRESH OUTPOURING FROM HEAVEN!
• The best way for us to pray for a new outpouring of God’s Spirit is to first pray that the Lord would give us the hunger and thirst in our hearts for the outpouring of the Spirit. Many different people are praying for the outpouring of the Spirit. But the prayer for thirst and for the spiritual appetite of the Spirit of God is PARAMOUNT.
• We pray that the Spirit of the Lord will begin to stir up our hearts and begin to impart into our spirits the TRUE THIRST AND DESIRE to experience the FRESH RAIN and the NEW WINE of God. I trust that you had the opportunity to watch our last Sunday broadcast, and we believe with all our hearts that after this long season of spiritual drought, we may be standing on the threshold of the new and great heavenly outpouring of God’s spiritual rain!
• Father, we pray, in Jesus’ name, beginning with ourselves, and we pray for every person in the Church to become HUNGRY AND THIRSTY for God. We pray that you may impart to us a TRUE spiritual desire to receive the OUTPOURING OF YOUR SPIRIT for all believers around the world. We also pray for the global outpouring of the Spirit on all flesh concerning the lost―a promise that has not been fulfilled yet. The Lord promised that in the last days He would pour out His Spirit upon all flesh.
• We believe that we are living in that time right now and that we are VERY CLOSE to firstly seeing a shower of refreshing on the Church, but then secondly the miracle of the global outpouring of God’s Spirit on every human being on earth! I know it is so difficult to relate to the vastness of God’s Spirit falling on over eight (8) billion people, but the promise still stands, and the time is at hand. Thank you, and God bless you!
