The Golden Cross of Calvary!
The wooden cross is a symbol known to man since ancient civilizations. In the Christian world, the wooden cross is THE symbol of man’s salvation.
Born of the Father on October 2 of the year 1 B.C., a new man—never created before—was manifested on the earth. Although this new child looked like any other child, He really did not have any direct connection with the earth. He was the Lord from heaven! His name is the Word of God.
GOLD & GLORY FLASHPOINT 1:
- Before the beginning of creation and time, it was decided between the Godhead that Jesus, the Word, would become human flesh in order to redeem mankind from sin and eternal death in hell. On Earth, He was called Jesus. He was known as the son of Joseph and Mary, which He was NOT since He came straight from heaven with no connection to Adam and the DNA and bloodline of mankind.
- The cross of Calvary where Jesus was crucified on Friday, April 11 of the year A.D. 32, has become a very powerful symbol of Christianity. In fact, the cross of Christ has become THE foremost symbol of identification with Christ. He was the ONE, the spotless lamb of God―the Christ who came from heaven, who died on the cross for the sins of the world. As such, the cross is always identified with Jesus Christ, and the two are sometimes used almost interchangeably. The cross of Christ is recognized worldwide as the TRUE symbol of the salvation of man.
- As you may know, many different films have been produced about the life of Jesus, depicting His suffering and death on the cross. The act of crucifixion was truly barbaric and cruel, even inhumane as a manner of ending the life of a human being. Indeed, in this horrific fashion, Jesus was openly displayed as crucified on the cross of Calvary. To many, the cross of Jesus may only be an historic reality. Thank God it was clearly documented and recorded by the writers of the time, and proof of the actual crucifixion still remains to this day.
- Sometimes I feel we overemphasize the cross itself. It is NOT Calvary itself or the cross that is holy. All the symbolic and spiritual truth about the crucifixion belong to Christ alone. He alone is THE Lord of suffering and of death until the FULL salvation was accomplished on resurrection morning. Different Christian denominations may relate to the cross itself in many different ways. One thing that we all have in common about the cross is the color of crimson, the blood of Jesus―at that point, dried and gradually deteriorating from the fresh blood that originally poured from His body onto the cross.
- As we travel to different countries of the world, we would find the cross in different shapes and sizes—and even different colors in all different locations. And always without fail, the cross would resemble the color of blood. Of course, this means so much to us. On the cross of Calvary, Jesus truly suffered the most horrible agony, punishment, and pain. Not only was His body half beaten to death the night of His arrest in Gethsemane, but also He began to absorb the turmoil and suffering of our soul man. Indeed, He was filled with sorrow and grief. The 39 stripes that He suffered were the punishment for every physical pain, sickness, and disease of the earth. He was despised, hated, and rejected. He suffered all of these afflictions of every kind of pain, mental turmoil, and rejection that you can imagine. However, what took place in His Spirit man is almost indescribable!
- I don’t think the Church has come to a full understanding of what actually happened to Jesus in His Spirit while He hung on the cross. He became sin itself. There is a BIG difference here between Jesus carrying every infirmity of the body and every torment of the soul in His physical man. Yes, He suffered all of those afflictions personally—soul and body. But what happened in His Spirit was something completely different. In His Spirit, Jesus didn’t carry any affliction like He did in His body and soul. In His Spirit, Jesus actually became sin itself for us! This is a glorious reality, shocking indeed. Yet, there is a simplicity to this miracle. Let’s answer this question. How did Jesus actually become sin for us? He simply exchanged His righteous nature for our sinful nature. He took our sinful nature and became sin for us. He gave us His righteous nature that we may receive His salvation by accepting, in faith, that He did ALL this for us. What a glorious exchange―we received His righteous nature as He took our sinful nature instead!
GOLD & GLORY FLASHPOINT 2:
- For 2,000 years, the Church has preached the message of salvation—the message of the cross. And yet, 2,000 years later, the full and complete message of the cross is YET to be delivered in its fullness. Until 150 years ago, the Church did NOT believe that Jesus carried our sicknesses and provided healing for us. Throughout the 20th century, the Church was still playing catchup concerning certain redemptive realities that were simply not yet recognized as part of the work of the cross. It took the majority of the latter half of the 20th century to convince other factions of the Church that the bloodstained cross of Calvary is also a golden cross filled with provisions, wealth, and abundance. The cross of Calvary is as much a golden cross as it is a crimson cross.
- In our previous Sunday broadcast on December 31, entitled New Testament Prosperity, we spoke particularly about how Jesus purchased provisions and wealth for us on the cross.

-
- How is it possible that for 2,000 years most of the Church would accept that Jesus became SIN for us (2 Corinthians 5:21)? But the Church at large would still overlook the fact that on the same cross, He became POOR for us, that we might be abundantly supplied in ALL our needs (2 Corinthians 8:9)! See how the devil has lied to different denominations of the Church for SO long, and the gift of giving that Paul describes in 2 Corinthians chapter 9 is the gift that Jesus gave for us in chapter 8!
- The New Testament gift of giving is THE manifestation of Christ becoming poor for us on the cross. It has NOTHING to do with the Law and Tithing, which is DEAD! It has NOTHING to do with Luke 6:38, which stopped at the cross. And there on the cross, Jesus made everything NEW, including a NEW covenant of WEALTH—with two new gifts of wealth:
-
- The gift of giving from your heart, as led by the Spirit (2 Corinthians 9:6-11).
- The gift of how to access the wealth of Jesus in glory (heaven). This phenomenally powerful gift of wealth for the Church is never even taught correctly (Philippians 4:15-19).
- We answered the call of the teaching on Philippians 4:19, in great detail in Chapter 14 of our flagship book, God’s Gold & Glory Revolution. The eternal cross of Calvary has many colors. It has ALL the colors of the rainbow, and the colors of heaven too. No wonder the Temple of Israel was built with SO much gold. Everything in the Temple was either covered in or built with gold.
- I imagine that heaven may be filled with many crosses. It is easy to imagine one that is red, but if there are true crosses in heaven, there would also be a gigantic golden cross of Christ. This cross is called the Golden Cross of Calvary. Today here on Earth, we are standing on the threshold of God’s Gold and Glory Revolution of the Church—and of the entire world. Soon we will experience all of this, and come to inherit the fullness of the blessing of the Golden Cross of Calvary! Jesus gave us a crimson cross of redemption, but He also provided us with a golden cross of wealth. God bless you!
