Seeking the Great Comforter!
When we look back in history to Jesus’ time on the earth, we need a thousand years to look into a portion of all that Jesus said and did.
Let’s consider for a moment the final evening of the Lord’s life in freedom before His arrest by the Sanhedrin (the Jewish council of leadership).
GOLD & GLORY FLASHPOINT 1:
- It was Thursday evening, April 10 of the year A.D. 32. During that afternoon and up until 6:00 p.m., the Jews at the Temple and all throughout the city were celebrating Passover by eating the meal of the Passover lambs. At exactly 6:00 p.m., the Feast of Unleavened Bread began with everyone partaking of unleavened bread, which represented the Messiah, who is God’s bread from heaven.
- Several hours later, Jesus’ disciples had prepared the room to be a special gathering place where later that evening Jesus met with His disciples to celebrate the Passover. Yet, such a celebration would be religiously invalid since the time to consume the symbolic meals of both feasts (Passover and Unleavened Bread) had passed! As Jesus was gathered with His disciples later that evening, suddenly, in a shocking fashion, He introduced to them the New Passover of the New Testament, which is the LORD’S SUPPER!
- The New Passover of the Lord’s Supper instantly replaced the Feast of “Pesach,” or the Jewish Passover. Religiously, what Jesus did at that moment was blasphemous. Rather, since Jesus WAS and IS the TRUE Messiah, the BREAD AND THE WINE which He offered the disciples that night became the life-giving ELEMENTS of celebrating the New Covenant of the Lord Jesus Christ!
- After supper, Jesus used in excess of two hours’ time to reveal to His disciples THE life-giving principle of their future lives as Jesus’ followers after His departure to heaven. What Jesus so powerfully revealed late that evening is the REVELATION of the CHRISTIAN LIFE, which all the followers of Jesus through time would be called upon to LIVE THEIR LIVES in this particular LIFESTYLE, from the outpouring of the Spirit in Jerusalem until the last day return of Jesus for His Church.
- The REVELATION that Jesus brought forth that evening was a detailed EXPLANATION of how His followers throughout the entire Church age of 2,000+ years should enjoy the indwelling Person of Holy Spirit! As such, each Christian is supposed to personally live this life of fellowship with Holy Spirit by engaging with Him in a special relationship after receiving salvation.
- Following the teaching of this ENORMOUS revelation of the future life of Christianity, Jesus and His disciples left the room and went down toward the Mount of Olives and crossed over the brook Kidron, subsequently reaching the Garden of Gethsemane.
- The Church has given so much time and attention to the rest of the events of that evening, from the time Jesus entered Gethsemane all the way through His arrest and throughout the dreadful examining and beating of the Lord all night long by the Sanhedrin—even until morning! From that moment on, throughout the horrible events of the day of His death, the Church factually continues to examine all the events of Jesus’ sufferings from His arrest until His death on the cross. Yet on the other hand, the vitally important events of the prior evening BEFORE His arrest are always totally ignored!

GOLD & GLORY FLASHPOINT 2:
- How is it possible that the Church has so meticulously documented and examined the series of events that evening, from Jesus’ arrest to His crucifixion the following day, even until His death and burial? On the other hand, the events of the last evening of Jesus’ freedom, from about 9:00 p.m. until His arrest after midnight, never seem to receive the same attention and emphasis as do all the events of the following day of His crucifixion and death! Since the Church does NOT ever consider the different events of the last evening BEFORE the Lord’s arrest, we are NOT surprised that most of the significance of that evening has faded into history. Should the Church by chance reference anything that happened during the evening BEFORE Christ’s arrest, the Church may recall Jesus introducing and instituting the New Covenant of Life through the life-giving elements of the bread and the wine.
- But concerning the great teaching Jesus gave later that evening, unfolding the revelation of the future life of Christianity, the Church has nothing to say about it. REGARDLESS, THE LIFE-GIVING TEACHING JESUS GAVE TO HIS DISCIPLES THAT EVENING BETWEEN 9:45 P.M. AND MIDNIGHT IS THE FULL AND COMPREHENSIVE REVELATION OF THE LIFE AND HABITUAL LIFESTYLE OF THE TRUE CHRISTIAN LIFE TO BE EXHIBITED AND MANIFESTED BY HOLY SPIRIT THROUGH EVERY BELIEVER FOR THE ENTIRE CHURCH AGE—EVEN UNTIL THE RETURN OF JESUS FOR HIS BELOVED!
- Clearly, Jesus PRIORITIZED this revelatory teaching concerning the future Christian life as simply the MOST IMPORTANT THING He needed to tell His disciples before His arrest and His death. Jesus spent His final two plus hours of freedom that evening showing His disciples HOW TO LIVE the life of the NEW Covenant in relationship with His Holy Spirit after Jesus’ departure to heaven. Again, this teaching was Jesus’ FINAL WORDS of wisdom and instruction to His disciples before His crucifixion and death.
- Throughout the entire Church age since Pentecost in Jerusalem, Holy Spirit has continued to preach and teach this same message of the TRUE Christian life, which is in perfect conjunction with and in full agreement with Jesus’ final teaching to His disciples about the future life with Holy Spirit. In looking back at the entire 2,000+ years, we now realize more fully that THE most important thing that Jesus spoke about with His disciples on the final evening of His freedom was this revelation, which has been greatly ignored and rejected by the Church worldwide—even to this day!
- Personally, the Person of Holy Spirit is rejected as Jesus’ SUCCESSOR, and as God living inside the spirit of every born-again believer. Holy Spirit is the Person of God who will walk with us in a personal relationship, manifesting all of the life and gifts of Jesus’ ministry to us.
- In obedience to the visitation of God’s Spirit to me in 1979, I have for over 40 years humbly and exhaustively taught the truth of the same revelation of the true Christian life of the believer during all these years. Now, more than 2,000 years after Jesus taught us how to seek after the great Comforter of God, Holy Spirit is still waiting for the Church to start a relationship and walk with Him!! I believe, here, we see the greatest tragedy in the entire Christian lifestyle and in the lives of all individual, born-again Christian believers.
- Today, in 2024, the Church unitedly around the world is in a severe crisis. There has never been a more critical AND opportune moment for the Church individually and collectively to wake up from her religious slumber and begin to cry out to Holy Spirit—in order to discover Him and seek HIS PERSPECTIVE on every issue of life confronting the Church TODAY. Will we finally begin to seek after the GREAT COMFORTER? At last, will the Church truly wake up and run after Holy Spirit?
- Right now, as we are rapidly approaching the FIRE judgment of God, it has become a matter of life and death to seek and find the great Comforter!
Oh, Lord God, please help us. Help us, Holy Spirit. You are our HELPER and Comforter. Lord, awaken the “dead in Christ” so that she may rise to discover the Person of God’s Holy Spirit. The hour has come, and it is almost past for us to seek after the great Comforter and all the great glory that He will soon provide us with from the Presence of God. Will YOU seek after the GREAT COMFORTER of God, who is the Person of His Holy Spirit? In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
