Jesus’ TIME on Earth—Part 6!

We are learning so many new things in our study of Jesus’ life on earth. We know that Malachi the prophet told the people of Israel that their Messiah would soon manifest. The relevant date was the year 431 B.C.

Subsequently, Jesus was born exactly 430 years later. So, Jesus fulfilled the time of His actual birth. All Christianity believe that Jesus was born of a virgin. This was a second prophecy that Jesus fulfilled.

Jesus fulfilled the Law and ALL Judaism, including the Temple building, at the moment of His birth. Jesus became Israel’s “New Temple” at birth.

GOLD & GLORY FLASHPOINT 1:

• At 12 years of age, Jesus was found in the Temple, and He was teaching the Pharisees about the truth of God. Everyone marveled at His wisdom and knowledge. He knew more things about God than they did—and He was only 12 years old!
• Then at the time of Jesus’ baptism, God confirmed again that Jesus was THE Messiah. The heavens opened, and Holy Spirit appeared and sat on Jesus and anointed Him. John the Baptist proclaimed at that time that Jesus was the Lamb of God who takes away all the sins of mankind. Also, the voice of Father God fell from heaven. He said that Jesus was His beloved Son, confirming again that He was the Christ.
• Then, Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness, and as Paul says, Jesus was tempted in all sins, but He was PERFECT. Jesus overcame EVERY attack of the devil against Him in the wilderness.
• Returning to Jerusalem, Jesus started His ministry on Sukkot 1 of the year A.D. 28. The date Jesus started His ministry was October 21 of A.D. 28. Jesus stirred up the religion of the Israelites. Jesus never preached the Law or any Judaism. He never partook of celebrations at the Temple at different times. To the contrary, Jesus went about everywhere not preaching the Law but rather preaching the Kingdom of God. Jesus said the Kingdom of God has come to you. He was referring to Himself.
• The long teaching of the Sermon on the Mount was a new doctrine for Israel to find and live according to Jesus’ teachings. Concerning the content of Jesus’ sermons, it says that the people were “astonished” at His doctrine. Again, because He preached the Kingdom of God. Shortly after this, a blind man approached Jesus. He acknowledged that Jesus has the power to heal him. So he asked the Lord if He is willing to heal him. Jesus said, “I will,” and instantly the man’s sight was restored!
• Here is the scope of Jesus’ ministry on earth. In Acts 10:38, it says that God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and power to go about everywhere healing and delivering everyone, including ALL that were oppressed with sickness or demons. In Matthew chapter 9, we find another amazing incident in the life of Jesus. Jesus proclaimed and said, “What is easier, to heal the lame man or simply to say that his sins are forgiven? But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive all sins.” Jesus then commanded the lame man to pick up his bed and go home because he was healed! Not only did Jesus have the power to heal all people and to forgive all sins, but in Matthew chapter 10, we notice Jesus delegated His power to His 12 disciples. Jesus then sent them out, and they came back later testifying of the healings and miracles taking place while they were ministering to people. This is even more amazing! Not only did Jesus have all the power to heal everyone and to forgive everyone’s sins, but also He was able to transfer some of His power into the disciples. However, the enemy will always test us concerning what we believe.
• Later on during the time of Jesus’ ministry, John the Baptist was imprisoned. So John sent some of his disciples to Jesus, and they asked Him if He was the Lord or if they should wait for another one. It is hard to believe that John the Baptist practically lost his faith in prison! So Jesus sent John’s disciples back to him with a specific message for John. Jesus said this: the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf can hear, the dead are also raised up, and the poor have the Gospel preached to them. How shocking to think that John the Baptist practically lost his faith!
• The Pharisees and Sadducees hated Jesus, so they accused the Lord of being possessed by the spirit of Beelzebub. They just could NOT see the truth! Jesus answered them and said that He has the power to do ALL things on the earth. How terrible to think that God’s own people thought that He had a demon. They could NOT see that Jesus was the Christ! During the course of His ministry, the Lord performed multiple signs and wonders—even raising the dead back to life. How was it possible that with all the signs and wonders and miracles about Jesus’ life being so incredibly glorious and powerful, yet they failed to see that He was TRULY the Christ? The Pharisees came and tempted Him. Who is this Jesus person? The Pharisees were standing toe-to-toe with Jesus but could NOT recognize Jesus. The Jews simply could not see the TRUE Jesus because the VEIL OF DECEPTION, or, as Paul says, the veil of the Old Testament was still obstructing their view. They could NOT recognize the Christ. They could NOT see that He was the Messiah!

GOLD & GLORY FLASHPOINT 2:

• At one time, Jesus got in the boat with the disciples, and immediately the boat was on the other side already. Think about the “Madman of Gadara,” who was possessed by a legion of demons. Then Jesus did something that God had never done before—walked right up to the man with the demons and told them they had to leave. The main demon inside the man was crying out for Jesus’ mercy, and so did all the other demons inside this man. They were so afraid. They thought that God had totally cut the time short, so they thought they would be cast into hell right there. But no, their time hadn’t come yet!
• Remember the time when Peter wanted to walk on the water alongside Jesus? Then, the Lord invited him to step out on the water, and he started off doing well. But then, Peter began to look around and saw the waves. He heard the strong wind, and his faith failed him so that he began to sink. But Jesus grabbed his hand, and said, “Oh, you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
• Then, think about the death of Lazarus. Lazarus’ sisters, Martha and Mary, sent word to the Lord that Jesus’ friend Lazarus was gravely ill. Jesus was requested to come immediately to Bethany and pray for Lazarus and heal him. However, Jesus delayed His journey on purpose. He did not immediately travel to Bethany. When He finally arrived, Lazarus had been dead and buried for four days. Lazarus’ sister, Martha, said to the Lord that had He arrived earlier, He could have healed Lazarus and spared his life. So Jesus said to Martha that Lazarus would live and see the glory of God. Martha then corrected Jesus, saying, “Master, he’s been dead for four days.” Jesus must have just looked at her and shook His head!
• Martha believed that they would only see Lazarus again after the resurrection in the future. But Jesus looked at Martha and said, “Did I not tell you that if you only believe, you will see the glory of God?” And to the resurrection question that Mary raised, Jesus’ remark to her was incredible. Looking at Martha, Jesus said, ‘I AM THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE. HE WHO BELIEVES IN ME SHALL NEVER PERISH.” Then, Jesus asked Martha and Mary to take Him to Lazarus’ grave. Then Jesus prayed a prayer and thanked the Father for always hearing and answering Him. Then Jesus shouted with a loud voice, and to the shocking surprise of everybody present, Lazarus came out of his grave healthy and strong, still wearing his grave clothes with which he was buried!
• People, these things about the Lord Jesus are SO amazing! Two of the top historians of the time, Josephus and Gamaliel, recorded in their historic writings that the miracle resurrection of Lazarus was for REAL. At this point, the Pharisees wanted to pull out all their hair. How is it possible that this man Jesus can preach a different gospel to the people that neither acknowledges nor confirms the Law, the Temple, and all of Judaism?
• Here again we take note that everything about Jesus, from His birth to His ascension, was a manifestation of great miracles, signs, and wonders. These things occurred regularly throughout the time of Jesus’ life on earth.
• Father God, we praise you today, Lord. We thank you for sending your Son, the Lord Jesus, to the earth 2,000 years ago. As we continue to study Jesus’ life on earth, we are just amazed and shocked at everything Jesus said and did! We thank you, Father, for Jesus’ faithfulness to fully redeem us on earth and in hell. And then finally, Jesus Himself was resurrected to eternal life by the powerful and miraculous work of Holy Spirit. How can there be any doubt that Jesus was the TRUE manifestation of the Messiah?
• Furthermore, after Jesus’ resurrection, He showed Himself alive to many people during His last 40 days on earth. On one occasion, Paul said that Jesus appeared and showed Himself to 500 men. And as Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15, he added, at that time, that most of those 500 men who saw Jesus alive were still alive when Paul wrote this in the Epistles in Corinthians. They were still eyewitnesses to the miraculous power of the Lord Jesus Christ!
• Thank you, Lord, that Jesus was and is the Lord Jesus Christ. Truly, all evidence, signs, wonders, and miracles all together confirm that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior and He is Israel’s Messiah! We pray, Lord, in Jesus’ name, that You may remove the veil of deception from people’s eyes so that they can see and recognize Jesus as the Messiah. Then, they will be born again!
• Concerning the Church, we pray that God would remove the VEIL of the Church. The veil of the Old Testament blinded Israel so they could not recognize that Jesus was the Son of God. They just could not see who Jesus is, even unto this very day. On the other hand, the Church has seen Jesus and His salvation, but the veil of the Church prevents her from finding Holy Spirit and the New Testament salvation of the Lord Jesus Christ.
• We pray today, Lord, that You would open up the eyes of the blind and remove the veils of deception from both Israel and the world. We also pray that God would open up the eyes of the Church, that the Church may SEE who Holy Spirit is and EMBRACE Him as the ONLY Person of the Godhead who operates in the earth.
• Indeed, Lord, we pray that all the veils of every person, saved or unsaved, should be removed from the peoples’ eyes. Then everyone will see Jesus and that He is our Savior, but then we can also embrace Holy Spirit and develop a relationship with Him. Lord, we pray for all people, that all the veils of deception would be immediately removed to the glory of God! Thank you, Lord, for helping everyone who has a veil that needs to be removed. Thank you, Lord, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
